Side-by-side comparison

Geo Targetly vs If-So: what each does, how each bills and who should pick which

Geo Targetly and If-So side by side from each vendor's pages: platforms, geo redirect options, usage meters, caching and SEO notes, and who should pick which.

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-30

Quick answerBoth tools show visitors different content or redirect them by location. Geo Targetly runs from a script on any platform and meters pageviews. If-So is a WordPress plugin that treats location as one of many conditions and meters geo sessions. Pick by platform first, then by how much of your traffic needs a location rule.
Geo Targetly is likely to fit when

✓ Multi-country marketers who want redirects, local currency display and region-only banners from one dashboard

✓ Agencies running several client sites on mixed platforms

✓ Small stores on Shopify, Webflow or other non-WordPress platforms that need location rules without code

✓ Teams whose traffic fits a pageview quota after counting every tool on every page

Important limitations

— WordPress-only sites that want location beside other conditions in one plugin

— Sites already on Cloudflare that need one or two country redirects

— Sites with separate country URLs and hreflang tags that only need a visible country selector

— Anyone who needs legal advice on what a regional banner must contain

Geo Targetly vs If-So: the main difference

Geo Targetly is a hosted service: rules live in its dashboard and a script on your site applies them, on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or a custom build. If-So is a WordPress plugin: rules live in WordPress as triggers, and location is one condition among more than 60, such as device type, referral source and new or returning visitors, according to its plans page.

The pair is also searched as If-So vs Geo Targetly. The comparison is the same. Both vendors' pages were read on October 30, 2026, and amounts are left to those pages.

Side by side: what each vendor's pages state

  • Platforms: Geo Targetly lists WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and custom builds. If-So is a WordPress plugin and lists page builder support for Elementor and Gutenberg.
  • Geo redirect: Geo Targetly redirects by continent, country, state, region, city, coordinates, browser language or IP range, automatically or after asking. If-So redirects by continent, country, state, city or time zone through a trigger and a redirect shortcode.
  • Redirect type: If-So offers a JavaScript redirect by default, plus 301, 302, 307 and 308 in its shortcode generator. The Geo Targetly pages read here describe a script-based setup and name no HTTP status code, so ask which one is sent.
  • Location data: both use IP-based location. If-So also lists the browser's HTML5 location option, which it says is more accurate at city level, and a visitor self-selection form. Geo Targetly offers manual switchers.
  • Usage meter: Geo Targetly counts pageviews for every visitor and every tool. If-So limits only its geolocation condition, by monthly geo sessions: 250 on its free plan, 1,000 on Pro and 35,000 on Agency.
  • Free entry: If-So lists a free plan with all geo features inside its session limit. Geo Targetly lists a 14 day free trial and no free plan on its pricing page.
  • Beyond redirects: Geo Targetly adds currency display, blocking, translation and region-specific cookie banners in the same plan. If-So adds geo menus, WooCommerce geo products, country blocking and A/B testing.

Caching and SEO: what each vendor says

Page caching can serve one saved version to every visitor. If-So's guide says to add an attribute that fires the redirect after the cached page loads, and warns that on slower hosting a brief moment on the original page can appear. Geo Targetly's SEO guide covers crawlers instead: it says redirects are acceptable when Google's crawler is treated like any visitor, while its redirect page also lists a setting that skips bots. Google's documentation says to treat its crawler like any user from the country it appears to come from.

If-So's guide calls 302 the safer default for geo redirects. Google's page says temporary redirects keep the source page in search results and permanent ones show the new target.

Which to choose

  • Choose Geo Targetly if the site is not on WordPress, if one account must serve many client sites on mixed platforms, or if you want redirects, currency display and region-only cookie banners in one tool.
  • Choose If-So if everything runs on WordPress and you want location combined with device, referral or visitor history, or want a free tier for a small site.
  • Choose neither yet if each country has its own URL and hreflang tags. The redirect guide shows when a visible country selector is enough.
  • Consider other WordPress plugins or Cloudflare rules if country redirects are the whole job.

Questions to ask both vendors

  • How does my traffic turn into pageviews or geo sessions? Read how If-So defines a geo session in its help center before comparing quotas.
  • Which HTTP status does the redirect send, and can I change it?
  • Can I skip search crawlers, and does that match Google's advice to treat them like visitors?
  • What happens when the quota runs out? Geo Targetly says service stops two days after it reaches zero. Ask If-So what happens past its session limit.
